Cantorial Track

„What a wonderful group of students. I was really impressed with their musicality, their voices and, most importantly – their spirit. This gives me a lot of hope for the future of Judaism in Europe.“
Chazzan Danny Maseng (Los Angeles)

Opened in 2008, our Cantorial Program’s aim is to train male and female cantors for Jewish communities. The Abraham Geiger College Cantorial Program is the only one of its kind in Central and Western Europe and the first cantorial school in Germany since the Shoah. In close cooperation with the University of Potsdam and with the Chair of the History of Jewish Music at the University of Music FRANZ LISZT in Weimar we offer a comprehensive curriculum that combines vocational training in Chazzanut with an a 4-year BA program in Jewish Theology and Music Studies.

Cantorial students fulfill internships in synagogue congregations in Germany and beyond and spend one year of their studies in Israel.
