Personal Development and Students Empowerment
The path of the rabbi and cantor is an ongoing personal journey as much as a career. Our requirements include not only deep immersion in Jewish modalities; we also promote excellence in Jewish learning and leadership and put an emphasis on our students’ ability to work with people, to being available to them and to respond to their needs. A significant part of our curriculum is devoted to professional and pastoral skills, including communications, nonprofit management and field education. Internships include clinical pastoral education. At Abraham Geiger College, students learn to think about their calling and their work on a variety of levels: religious, spiritual, textual and historical.
To achieve excellence in the rabbinate and cantorate, we enable thorough support and offer
- spiritual guidance for students
- mentoring and counseling as well as psychological coaching
- an emphasis on vocational skills alongside academic achievement
- post ordination mentoring and counseling
We support our students in their efforts to fight anti-Semitic sentiments, to build alliances with other faiths and minorities and to create a more just and equitable society.
