Library
The Abraham Geiger College Library is an academic reference library with a focus on:
- Tanakh
- Jewish Liturgy and Jewish liturgical music
- Rabbinic literature
- Jewish law and Responsa,
- Jewish Theology and Philosophy
- History of Liberal Judaism
The library is part of the network of Judaica libraries in the Federal States of Berlin and Brandenburg. Collections of all participating libraries are accessible through a conjoint search engine called Judaica-Portal Berlin-Brandenburg.
At present just a part of the Abraham Geiger College’s collection is registered at our Online Public Access Catalogue. This catalogue can only be searched in Latin script, using romanization tables for Hebrew in German speaking countries – the so called DIN-Norm 31636.
For queries of our catalogue in Hebrew letters, please use the platform of the GBV (Gemeinsamer Bibliotheksverbund). Here you are going to find the books of the Abraham Geiger College as part of a broader network. They appear at first under the name of Potsdam University Library and on a second level as books of the Abraham Geiger College (AGK).
Now, after moving to the campus of the University of Potsdam the library holdings of the Abraham Geiger College are presented together with those ones of the University Library. Users are going to find library holdings of the college at the reading room for Religious Studies at Campus Neues Palais, and in all stacks of the University Library – with one exception: Jewish Music. All music materials are kept at the premises of the Abraham Geiger College and are going to be provided upon request.
The entire collection can be used according to all rules and regulations of Potsdam University Library.
