On May 25th, the Abraham Geiger College conferred upon Israel’s foremost writer and intellectual Amos Ozl, the Abraham Geiger Award 2017. „He is a firm believer in humanity and its ability to change the world for the better,“ the accolade reads. „His confidence is our consolation.”
The €10,000 prize, which was awarded to Chancellor Angela Merkel in 2015, recognizes personalities who promote pluralism „and are committed to openness, courage, tolerance and freedom of thought.
Many thanks to laudatory speaker Dr. Klaus Lederer (Mayor of Berlin and Senator for Culture and Europe),, Mark Dainow (Vice President, Central Council of Jews in Germany) and the Israeli ambassador to Germany, Yakov Hadas-Handelsman, for making this such a memorable event for the 800 plus audience.
