The Abraham Geiger College, a not-forprofit company with limited liability
since autumn 2002, trains rabbis in cooperation with the University of
Potsam. It pursues exclusively and directly non-commercial religious
and scholarly goals, including professional training. The College pursues
the goals stipulated in its statutes through the following activities:
- Provision for the training and continuing education of rabbis and
teachers of religion
- Development of and sustenance for academic research programmes and
instruction
- Support of scholarly institutions
- Coordination of activities andcooperation with other scholarly organisations
and institutions that can assist in achieving the goals of the College
- Cooperation with institut ions for Jewish scholarship in other countries
- Development of academic publications
- Promotion of scholarly studies and research
- Advice for and assistance to state agencies in the planning and realization
of academic support programmes and projects
The College has three governing agents: the shareholders meeting appoints
the acting partner who – in his capacity as Executive Director – presides
over the board of directors.
The Abraham Geiger College trains its students in close cooperation with
the Jewish Studies Programme at the University of Potsdam. Forms of cooperation
include joint academic events, teaching positions, guest lecturers and
especially the education and support of young scholars.
