From 1981 to 1996 Rabbi of Har El Congregation in Jerusalem
He has lectured extensively on behalf of ARZA, Israel Bonds, United Jewish
Appeal etc. in Israel as in Europe, North America, South Africa, now mainly
in Germany Rabbi Ben Chorin has twice chaired the Israel Council of
Progressive Rabbis and in that capacity has been a representative to the
Executive Board of the Israel Movement for Progressive Judaism.
In the course of a six-month sabbatical Rabbi Ben-Chorin spent three month
(March to May 1990) at the Oxford Centre for Post Graduate Studies in
Yarnton, Oxford researching the underlying principles guiding the choice of
Haftaroth..
Since April 1996 he is Rabbi of the JLG Or Chadash Liberal Congregation in
Zurich.
He continues to lecture extensively both in Switzerland and in Germany in
the context of Jewish / Christian and German / Jewish dialogue.
